SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA, September 24, 2013 – Passmorelab and K2 Communications announced that the new documentary 3D film – ANTARCTICA’S PENGUIN EMPERORS 3D – is now available for distribution to museums and science centers in selected territories.
This family friendly film was shot on location in Antarctica, the southernmost region on the planet. The story follows a colony of Emperor Penguins as they emerge from the sea and begin their long march sixty miles inland during the cold winter. Presented in stunning 3D, this true-life tale will warm the hearts of audiences as they witness the hardships and sacrifices of these curious creatures in their fascinating triumph over the elements.
“The movie offers breathtaking 3D imagery that captures Antarctica’s transcendent beauty. It’s the story of devoted parent penguins who, in the face of the harsh polar winter, take turns guarding their egg and venturing to the ocean in search of food,” said James Humann, Business Affairs Director for Passmorelab. “It’s a family drama about love and courage set in the most uncompromising region of the world.”
Presented in stereoscopic 3D, audiences will get a first-hand look at the animal inhabitants of Antarctica and the lives, rituals and camaraderie of the Emperor Penguin.
“Vast frozen landscapes come alive in large format 3D. Only 3D can provide the depth and visual cues necessary to understand the vast dimensions and huge populations in this film,” added Greg Passmore, President of Passmorelab. “The regions are so remote, this might be the only way museum audience members could ever experience this majestic place filled with Emperor Penguins. It is also a rare opportunity to see these creatures in an educational context, outside the reach of Hollywood spinners. I am impressed by the directness of the story and the unfiltered view of our amazing world.”
“We’re really excited to bring ANTARCTICA’S PENGUIN EMPERORS 3D to museum audiences in selected markets. The film has all the elements of a winner for this industry — it takes you somewhere most people would rarely go, the cinematography is stunning, the story is engaging, and it’s educational,” said Mark Kresser President of K2 Communications. K2 Communications first premiered the 3D trailer during the Giant Screen Cinema Association International Conference in Ottawa, Canada on September 14-17, 2013.
The film was produced by South Korea’s Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation and was directed by Kim Jae-Yeong and Kim Jin-Man. Passmorelab provided post-production services and produced the museum versions of the film which will be distributed by K2 Communications beginning in October 2013.
This is the first time this award-winning film will be available in 3D for museum audiences (20-mins & 40 mins) in the U.S. and Canada.
